OK, it’s no secret. I hate growing old.
So does the whole female population I imagine. Unless of course you are 20 and can’t wait to be the legal age of 21 for you know what.
Besides that, all I know is I cried a little, I laughed a little, during my 40th birthday party.. and made resolutions to alway stay young.. at heart.
But seriously folks.
I don’t have the secrets to the universe, but I do know this. The following tips will help you slow down aging, like nothing you can imagine!
Here are my top 10 secret tips to staying young.. and you can thank me later:P
1. SLEEP
Like shit loads of this. All the time. Whenever you can. Nap on the weekends. And weekdays at least 6 hours or more.. and I don’t sleep late. Sleep helps the body repair and it helps you lose weight… and it’s free. Oh and it also gives you a great sex life. Honest.
2. HAVE LOADS OF GREAT SEX
Well, I’m married so I can say this. Have LOADS of sex all the time.. and make sure it’s great sex. It releases endorphins and makes you a happier person. Happy people draw similarly happy people to themselves.. positive energy begets positive energy.
2. EAT WELL
Here’s what you need to eat to stay young. No doubt about it.. you are what you eat
3. EXERCISE
Find something you like to do.. and do it often! But don’t overdo it. Here’s how to do it. Here are some videos on simple exercise routines you can do in 15 minutes, if you’re wondering where and to get started (from now on, tune in every Friday for a new workout video).
4. MARRY A GOOD MAN
Or woman. But half the stress and problems in this day and age comes from bad relationships. If he is bad, get rid of him! Here’s why stress ages you and ways to overcome it.
5. DRINK WATER
Like a gallon of it. Here’s why you should drink more water.
6. HAVE A GREAT SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Here’s how I do it. 8 Skin Care Tips for Combination Skin, How I show my skin some love.. and finally 5 Easy steps I like to follow no matter the occasion.
7. TAKE SUPPLEMENTS
Here are my favourites. Of these, am currently taking glucosamine (for my joints since I run), fish oils (for overall wellbeing of the heart) and probiotics (for my GUT flora). But I have to say, that I am a bigger advocate of getting the nutrients in your food, rather than via supplements. Supplements have a roll to play during intense training, when the body is constantly depleted of resources.
8. GO ON HOLIDAYS
Here are some ideas on where to go, to de-stress.
9. MAKE AMENDS
It’s pretty vital that any blockages or road blocks in your life be removed. If there’s someone you hold a grudge against, go and apologize (even if it’s not your fault). It will release you and the other person forever, from guilt and torment and anger. And we all know, that anger and resentment kills the spirit and ages you faster than a time machine on steroids headed for the future.
10. MAKE NEW FRIENDS BUT DON’T FORGET THE OLD
A constant healthy input of new stimulus in the form of new friends is vital for youth and vitality. We all need inspiration, stimulation and a new perspective once in a while. Don’t get stuck in a rut. Take up a hobby, make new friends. You will feel younger and look younger in no time!
GET PLENTY OF SUNSHINE!
Oh.. and final bonus point. Don’t hide from the sun. I use SPF by all means but I’ve never been one of those (nor could understand the concept) of hiding in the shade and having porcelain white skin. And there is a science to this as well. People who get enough IR rays (not the harmful UV) have less aches and pains, and can recover faster from exercise or injury. IR which is normally overlooked and folks are so busy giving UVA and UVB bad flack, is actually able to soothe, stimulate and detox the physical body. Sunshine also makes Vitamin D, essential for bone health – as we age it prevents osteoporosis (bones getting brittle). It also boost fertility in women – Vit D boost levels of progesterone and estrogen, which regulate menstrual cycles and reduces PMS! Great news women.. get some sun!
