5 Steps to having Gorgeous Skin

Is your skin dull and unexciting? Do you wish you had your neighbour’s or your friend kind of luminous skin?

Well, fear not.. here are 5 simple ways to having Gorgeous skin, no matter what age you are…

pamper

1. Wear Sunscreen

The sun is the main culprit for premature aging of the skin. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems, as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.

For the best results, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. When you’re outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you’re swimming or perspiring.

2. Quit Smoking

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow. This depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin, the fibers that give your skin its strength and elasticity. Also, have you noticed how smokers keep frowning as the smoke gets in their eyes? Well frowning is a sure way to get wrinkles as well. Best way to keep your skin looking young is to quit smoking.

3. Pamper your Skin

Go for a massage once a month, and make sure they use high quality aroma therapy oils. I love a hot stone, pressure point massage, followed by an aromatherapy massage. Utter bliss!

Also, daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. So, to make sure your skin is well pampered, limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin causing it to look dried out. Avoid strong soaps and go for mild cleansers. Shave carefully – make sure you use a shaving foam. After a shower or bath, pat yourself dry rather than raking your skin with a dry towel. This will keep the moisture on your skin for longer and you won’t get abrasions from rubbing your skin too hard. And don’t forget to moisturize your skin immediately after a shower, because this is when the skin is most receptive to moisture.

4. Eat Healthy

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. A diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates, will give you younger looking skin.

5. Abolish Stress

Stress makes skin more sensitive and can trigger acne breakouts. To encourage healthy skin, and a healthy state of mind, try yoga or meditation. If something is bothering you, find way or people who can counsel you. Exercise helps to detox and de-stress as well. The results on your skin, might be more dramatic than you expect!
