Eating Tips for the busy Woman

Where does the time go each day? I look at my watch, and it’s already 5pm! Well, here are our eating tips for the busy Woman…

You’re busy. I’m busy.

We aren’t getting any less busy, anytime soon.

Well, good news is we have some tips for the busy woman and how to eat right. Here are 5 great eating tips for the busy woman, i.e. you and me!

Farmer's Market - Organic Vegetables1. START THE MORNING WITH VEGETABLE JUICE, CHIA & FLAXSEEDS

Chia seeds are a complete source of dietary protein providing all the essential amino acids. Compared to other seeds and grains, chia seed provides the highest source of protein: between 19 to 23 percent protein by weight. They also provide more omega 3 compared to the same fish source. For runners like me, the vast amount of Omega 3 and 6 in the perfect ratio of 2:1 is great for the heart and body alike. They reduce inflammation of joints and help them keep well oiled, thus reducing pain and discomfort. I start off the morn with a massive glass of blended vegetables (carrots, broccoli, spinach, celery) and add a handfull of chia and flaxseeds to supplement this great energy booster!

2. USE RAW FOODS AS INGREDIENTS

One of best ways to eat healthy is to eat raw foods. Nothing feels better than eating a fresh healthy meal. And there is a real sense of satisfaction, when you start to see your Abs starting to take definition, as a result of your healthy eating. This diet of uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic foods or wild foods is great for the body. Depending on the type of lifestyle and results desired, raw food diets may include a selection of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (including sprouted whole grains such as gaba rice), eggs, fish (such as sashimi), meat (such as carpaccio), and non-pasteurized/non-homogenized dairy products (such as raw milk, raw milk cheese, and raw milk yogurt).

3. PACK A BROWN BAG LUNCH

If you work in the concrete jungle called, KL, then try bringing a brown bag of food with you. It beats going out in traffic just to eat greasy and unhealthy food. Great options include, low fat cheese, brown bread and rocket salad or  Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, or apples with peanut butter, or veggie or turkey burgers.. the list is endless. And you can throw in some blueberries or a banana too!

4. MAKE MEALS/SALADS IN ADVANCE (see Mason Jars)

Because of my busy schedule, I love making salads in advance and pulling them out of the fridge one by one, as the week progresses. Here’s how.

5. SHOP ON THE FRINGE OF THE SUPERMARKET

Have you ever noticed how the perimeters of the supermarket is where the food tends to be the healthiest? On the outside are the vegetables, fruit, and whole grains. On the inside are the cookies, and junk food. Shopping on the outside also means you can go in and get out as fast as possible. This is the best way to shop if you ask me!

No excuses not to eat healthily no matter how busy…except if we’re lazy to eat healthily. Love the Mason Jar idea which I do a couple of times each week. Convenient!
