1. MEDITATE or PRAY

Practice getting centered, first thing in the morning, by meditating or praying for 10 minutes. If you can go for a half hour, even better. You will be more focused and have more energy to resist temptation should it come a knocking!

2. SIT UP STRAIGHT!

Stand up and sit up straight. By simply correcting your posture every time you catch yourself slouching at work or at home, helps you look strong and feel strong. That way, you will have the confidence to resist that extra macaron when it comes a calling!

3. KEEP A FOOD DIARY

Keep a log, and don’t lie. Be accountable to a friend or loved one on what you have eaten all week, and see where you’ve fallen. This way you can chart a trend and look for ways to increase your ability to resist temptations!

4. SPEND WITHIN YOUR MEANS

Buy only the things you need and the things of necessity. Researchers found that simply keeping track of where your money went will improve your willpower. Review on a regular basis the things you spend your money on, and you will see increases in your focus and ability to resist unrelated food temptations.

5. STOP YOURSELF, IN YOUR TRACKS!

Try to catch yourself in an automatic behavior and ask yourself why you are doing it? Why am I eating waffles instead of walnuts. Why am I eating milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. Why put 2 sugars in my coffee when I can just as easily go without. Any way you can think consciously about a typical automatic behavior will increase your focus and self-control for sure.

Try these, each day and you will be well on your way to becoming more mentally strong!
