Gentle Baby .. Can’t leave home without it!

About a couple of months back, a good friend dropped off a small vial of essential oil in my mailbox for Luca.

Its label read – Gentle Baby.

I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but little did I know the impact it would make on bubs sleeping habits.

In the initial months, Luca was a restless and light sleeper waking up three to four times in the night to feed..   ( yes yes.. poor me and also all mums who are breast feeding exclusively! haha)

Well eventually we brought it down to twice a night(6 months onwards when she started semi-solids) and now she completely sleeps throughout the night. Right around that same time, I started giving Luca baby massages with Gentle Baby. Just added one – two drops into some extra virgin organic coconut oil (as a diluting vehicle) and rubbed her down for 20 minutes. Those evenings inevitably were followed with great sleep. During the times we travel, I just drop 5 drops into the bubble bath and that worked wonders as well for sound sleep in a foreign room and bed. She was out like a light.

So far, this is the only success story I’ve had with essential oils and some quick online research showed that what I was using was in fact, therapeutic grade essential oils. Young Living essential oils are amazing. Working as a Pharmacist, I’ve come across tons of “so called” essential oils and I’ve been happy with none of them actually. They didn’t even work on me, let alone give me any confidence in trying them on my precious baby.

Gentle baby is a soothing blend of pure essential oils with and aroma that’s incredibly calming for both babies and mums. It contains a blend of Coriandrum sativum (Coriander) seed oil, Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) flower oil, Cymbopogon martini (Palmarosa) oil, Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) oil, Cananga odorata (Ylang ylang) flower oil, Anthemis nobilis (Roman chamomile) flower oil, Citrus aurantium bergamia (Bergamot) peel oil (Furocoumarin-free), Citrus limon (Lemon) peel oil, Jasminum officinale (Jasmine) oil, Rosa damascena (Rose) flower oil.

My friend also gave me a tube of Tender Tush to be applied (to the tush), for the prevention of nappy rash on bub’s nether regions. It’s worked like a charm – super rich so you only need one spot of it. Add it to a dollop of any other good organic, chemical free carrier cream or oil – I add this to Buds rescue cream since it’s made with 100% natural ingredients and is chemical free. Luca goes swimming daily in the evenings, and so far, she’s got problem free skin though exposed to a ton of chlorine and the elements, rather frequently. She’s also never suffered nappy rash a day in her life (touch wood).

I attribute this 50-50% to good genes (ahem! haha) and good quality therapeutic grade essential oils, that I rub on her as part of her daily skin care routine. Good habits start young, agree?
