I hate looking in the mirror in the mornings and seeing less than white teeth.
Arrghh.. what happened to the shiny pearls that I used to have?
Chances are, one too many black coffees and dark tea. Maybe even too much red wine the night before. Whatever the setback, it is only temporary. Here are our 5 Tips to get back those Healthy, White Teeth & healthy Gums once more!
1. Go on a whitening diet
If it’s dark before you put it in your mouth, it will probably stain your teeth. Red wine, coffee, black tea, smoking cigarettes.. all no-no’s. If you must indulge then brush immediately after eating or drinking foods that stain teeth and use a good bleaching agent, either over-the-counter or in the dentist’s office. For a natural and quick cleaning agent, chew popcorn (unsugared or lightly salted) after a meal.
2. Change your toothbrush
How many of us brush till our toothbrush head is frayed? Make sure you change your toothbrush every two to three months, otherwise, you’re just transferring bacteria to your mouth. Brush at a 45-degree angle against your gums and gently moving it in a circular motion, rather than a back-and-forth motion. Don’t brush too hard either or you might damage your gums. Also brush all the time – in the mornings and before you sleep are musts, but even after each and every meal if you can, and have access to a sink.
3. Clean your Tongue
Always brush your tongue once you are done brushing your teeth. Use a tongue scraper every morning to remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath. One major cause of bad breath is the buildup of bacteria on the tongue.
4. Eat Natural Cleaners
Like we said before, popcorn are natural teeth shiners. Raw apples, carrots, celery, and popcorn are all great choices. These are great if you don’t have a sink handy to brush your teeth.
5. Gargle with apple cider vinegar
If you can’t reach a sink to brush, the gargling with apple cider vinegar (sugar free). The vinegar helps help remove stains, whiten teeth, and kill bacteria in your mouth and gums.
