Bananas over Bananas!

Untitled

I do love my bananas!

Musa acuminata..

The red banana.. This curvy beauty is high in potassium and pectin. They can also be a good way to get magnesium and vitamins C and B6. Everything the sportsman or woman needs for muscle, bone and joint health. We know that magnesium is necessary for bone health but it has a much broader scope – most folks think that calcium is the only important factor in bone health, but vitamin D is also a necessary component. And Magnesium, is necessary to convert vitamin D into its active form so that it can turn on calcium absorption.

Bananas are high in antioxidants, which can provide protection from free radicals, which we come into contact with everyday. Free radicals are made when your body breaks down food or when you are exposed to tobacco smoke or radiation. The buildup of free radicals over time is largely responsible for the aging process. Free radicals if not in check can lead to heart disease, and conditions like arthritis. Well, eating a fair amount of bananas can help prevent all that from occurring.

Bananas are known to reduce swelling, protect against developing type-2 diabetes, aid in weight loss, strengthen the nervous system and help with production of white blood cells, all due to the high level of vitamin B6 that bananas contain.

Let’s all eat bananas and stay strong!
