My love for Argan Oil

It’s no secret. I love oils. And one of the oils that ranks high on my list, is the Argan Oil.

It’s good for your skin, hair, etc .. and if you get the right sort, it is quickly absorbed too, and does not leave a yucky greasy layer.

The active substances called triterpenoids that occur in Argan Oil offer amazing skin protection benefits. These include scar healing, anti-inflammatory, sun-protective and disinfectant properties. The oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids and is more resistant to oxidation than olive oil. Argan oil also contains sterols or sterolins. Sterolins improve skin metabolism, reduce inflammation and promote excellent moisture retention.

Argan oil is pressed from the nut of the fruit of the Argan Tree, which is only found in Morocco. The argan tree lives to be about 150 to 200 years old and does not start producing the fruit until it is 30 to 50 years old. If you want to implify your beauty routine, try argan oil. It’s full of essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote your overall health by moisturizing, softening as well as protecting your face and hair from sun damage, without harmful additives.

Here are 10 things to do with Argan Oil, starting from your head, to your toes!

1. Conditioner

I use a scented Argan Oil for this, because it makes my hair smell so good.
After a shower, let your hair dry till it is half dry. Then rub 3 drops of argan oil in between your hands and warm it up and spread evenly in your palms. Now spread it evenly onto your hair, starting midway till the ends. You can now style with the hair dryer or heating curlers with amazing results.

2. Hair Tamer

Spread 3 drops evenly to dry hair. This will tame frizzy and unruly hair and when it catches the light (in the evenings), will give your hair a gorgeous sheen.

3. Hair Treatment

After a shower and washing your hair, towel dry. Apply Argan Oil generously. Then wrap your hair and leave it on for as many hours as possible. Wash off later in the day for lustrous hair.

4. Face Moisturizer

Argan oil is a dry oil, so it quickly absorbs and is not greasy. Use it as a serum at night, under your night face cream. Or, during the day, you may apply it to cleansed and washed face, for a healthy glow.

5. Toner

Add a few drops of argan oil to your favorite facial toner, or make your own toner by adding a few drops of argan oil to Rose water.

6. Face Mask

Add a few drops of argan oil to your homemade cucumber mask. Add yoghurt to bind it all together. Apply on a clean, dry face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

7. Lip Scrub and Moisturizer

Add some argan oil to fine brown sugar. Lightly massage into lips using a circular motion and rinse off.

8. Face Glow

I love this one! Add a drop of argan oil to your foundation, bronzer or tinted moisturizer for a luminous glow!

9. Cuticle and Heel Softener

Massage a few drops of argan oil into your cuticles to soften, moisturize and encourage nail growth. Use it on cacked heels, and better yet, wear socks to sleep so the argan oil can really deep moisturize your heels.

10. Bath Oil

Add a few drops of argan oil to the hot bath, along with one or two drops of aroma therapy oil. And you now have a therapeutic spa right in your own bathroom!
