Mad about Moringa!

Today I want to talk about the Moringa plant.

My Indian friends use it regularly in their cooking (stir fried leaves, and seeds used in dhal) and it’s got tons of nutritious properties, but I want to highlight a few that’s important to running mothers! Firstly, a big energy boost.. yes sir indeed! And secondly, an increase in milk supply in nursing moms. Wow… seems like the ideal companion for running moms right… can you say, super food? 😉

And I am happy to report that I have started adding Moringa powder to my diet with good results.

The leaves of the moringa tree contain:

25 times the Iron in spinach
7 times the Vitamin C of oranges
4 times the Vitamin A of carrots
4 times the Calcium in milk
3 times the Potassium of bananas
3 times the Vitamin E of almonds
2 times the Protein of milk
50 times the B2 of sardines
50 times the B3 of peanuts
36 times the Magnesium of eggs

It is also known to reduce cholesterol, control blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and fight diabetes and cancer.

Iron and Magnesium both support the reduction of tiredness and fatigue in the body, and Vitamin A supports the metabolism of Iron. Adding moringa to your daily routine is an effective, natural way to prevent tiredness and fatigue.

The rich iron content of moringa powder also makes it ideal for vegan, vegetarians oh, and in nursing mothers it increases output of breastmilk!??? Nursing mothers can get more vitamins, minerals, and proteins than most vegetables. Moringa amazingly contains 92 nutrients and 46 types of antioxidants. It has essential amino acids, carotenoids, and high contents of calcium, magnesium and potassium. It’s also a natural source of Magnesium Calcium and nursing moms whose menses have just returned need to take this supplement anyway, to ensure milk supply does not dip. So Moringa is ideal if you don’t want to take tablet supplements.

Generally from personal experience, I find that my milk supply is up by around 20% and I can feel the increase in energy in the evenings, especially in the gym! I usually take it in the mornings, before breakfast – sprinkle 1 tablespoonful and dissolve it in cool raw honey (hot drinks may destroy some beneficial elements). Tastes like green tea. Definitely something I intend to take for the next 6 months at least, since it’s yummy and nutritious!
