If there’s one thing that might be more important than working out, it has got to be recovery.
Recovery though important, is constantly overlooked by athletes.
If your body doesn’t repair or heal, how can it keep going and performing at optimum capacity?
Well the great news is that, you don’t have to do recovery alone.
Here are some friends who might be of help…
Here are the top 5 Essential Oils for the Athletes, that I can’t do without either ..
Marjoram
Marjoram.. we use it in our cooking, but has some less known, but incredibly valuable uses to. It is closely related to Oregano, and has similar properties. Marjoram for me, is the go-to oil, after a long run – it supports muscle recovery, soothes discomfort in the well used leg muscles. I like it because it doesn’t work like a pain-killer. Pain killers block the inflammation process, along with the tearing of muscle, which in fact, is important for muscle to grow. Using Marjoram, you will find it alleviates discomfort in a natural way – the discomfort might come back but at least you know it’s not a chemical blocking your body’s natural biological response to injury.
Peppermint
One of the best essential oils for athletes seeking to maximize efforts. Peppermint supports respiratory function and clear breathing it supports blood circulation and oxygenation cooling effect for muscles. It improves my focus and lifts my mood.
Helichrysum
Helichrysum flowers are commonly known as Everlasting and Immortelle provides excellent support to the skin, and circulation. Great for runners and folks who workout regularly and intensely. This oil is rich with the naturally occurring constituents neryl acetate, gamma-curcumene, and alpha-pinene.Throw some Helichrysum and Eucalyptus Radiata into your diffuser. The fresh, earthy, invigorating scent is a great pick up especially if you’ve just completed a 30KM run, or if your day is packed with errands.
Thyme
Thyme is well-known for its cleansing properties and used to protect the body from environmental damages. Thyme also supports the respiratory system.
Wintergreen
Young Living’s Wintergreen contains natural methyl salicylate, which is regarded for its soothing properties, particularly when used in massage. So then you ask… why use SalonPas or Mentholatum D, when you can use methyl salicylate in it’s most natural and chemical free form? And I totally agree… don’t. Use Wintergreen essential oil instead!
