That time of the month is a pain in the butt for many women, including me.
I remember marathon training usually experiencing minor setbacks, during the time of my period. Let’s just call it a less than optimum run day. Such a pain even to go to race day with an achy back or worrying if you’d flood the tampon.
Anyway, for all that monthly discomfort, there’s DRAGON TIME.
Aptly named so, as my hubby will attest to that.. coz that’s when I become.. a fire-breathing dragon! haha
Anyway since I started on Dragon Time, a blend of calming and soothing essential oils, which contains natural plant phytoestrogens such as Clary Sage, life’s been that much better. Each menstrual cycle naturally requires the rise and fall of certain hormones — estrogen, progesterone, and two pituitary hormones known as follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Though coordination between these hormones varies for each of us, the general sequence follows a basic pattern. Naturally occurring phytoestrogens support this process and help our hormones stay in equilibrium. In fact, did you know, that both men and women have phytoestrogens in their bodies?
Dragon Time is great for teenagers who’ve already started getting their menses, and for all women really, who suffer discomfort during that time of month. I like to start applying it to my belly and back (all the areas that get uncomfortable )during the few days leading up to my period. Dragon Time smells heavenly, and contains Clary Sage, Lavender, Yarrow, Fennel, Marjoram, Jasmine. Fennel also has that great property of supporting female hormones.
If I’m training particularly strenuously, or it’s a hectic training period, I add Marjoram to the mix. Dragon Time already contains some Marjoram but since I’m caning it hard, I really need a little bit more. Gone are the days of reaching for oral pain killers and topical pain relief gels. For big muscle groups such as the hamstrings, abs etc, it’s easier to spread with carrier oil, I use V6 for this. EO’s are great, but have you ever tried spreading 3-5 drops. It’s like pffttt… it disappears before you can even spread it evenly let alone massage it in.
1 teaspoonful carrier oil, to 3 drops Dragon Time, 3 drops Marjoram, spread over muscles, back, abdomen. I also like applying these drops neat, to my vitaflex points (soles of feet -smaller surface area, so no need for carrier oil) and get my husband to massage them in. Any excuse for a foot massage I say..!
